OPPO A16 features a 6.52-inch LCD panel with a HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. There is a layer of polycarbonate and acrylic plastic on top for protection. The phone has a water-drop notch for the 8MP selfie camera.
OPPO has gone with a metallic-matte finish on top of the 3D curved body. It is available in two colors – Crystal Black and Space Silver.
Running the show underneath is the Helio G35. It brings no improvement over the P35 that is on the A15. The chipset is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. You can expand the latter using an external MicroSD card.
It runs on ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11. OPPO has included software features like System Booster and Game Assistant. The former is said to reduce system lag, while the latter lets you control performance level, brightness level, and notifications while gaming.
Camera
OPPO A16 flaunts a triple camera setup at the back. The 13MP primary camera has an 80° Field of View and even supports autofocus. Accompanying it are two additional 2MP sensors for portrait and macro shots.
AI beautification, Dazzling Mode, and Bokeh filters are some of the AI features that A16 supports.
OPPO A16 gets its juice from a 5,000mAh battery. It charges over the Type-C port. There is no mention of fast charging capability, but it has Super Nighttime Standby Mode and AI Optimized Night Charge. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. As for wireless connectivity, you get dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
